Long Island Botox
Shore Medical Aesthetics performs a wide range of cosmetic surgeries and procedures for patients across Nassau County, Long Island. Included among these procedures is Botox. This is a procedure that is both simple and safe and can improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow's feet lines in adults. It is a procedure that is approved for cosmetic use in 78 countries, so it is trusted by aesthetic specialists worldwide. There have been numerous articles and studies surrounding the procedure to ensure the complete safety of the patient. Since 2002, there have been about 10.9 million vials of Botox sold in the US. So you can see that it is a popular service, which is why we make it easily available to our patients.
How Botox Works
Botox targets the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting, which is one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow's feet. The injection of Botox will temporarily reduce muscle activity. Shortly after the injections, the patient will begin to notice a visible smoothing of the crow's feet lines and frown lines between the brows. This cosmetic treatment is technique-sensitive. By having this treatment, you should not lose the ability to show expression in any form or fashion. If you are worried about the process, please consult with us before moving forward with the procedure.
During the procedure, some patients say they experience a small pinch. However, there are ways to numb the treatment area, depending on how invasive of incision is being made and the extent of the treatment. If you are concerned about the potential discomfort, there are ways to dull the sensation, such as a numbing cream. The actual injection takes only about 10 minutes, but it is smart to discuss treatment goals to determine the appropriate treatment for you. Calling our Long Island office to discuss Botox will ensure you have a full understanding about how this works.
Botox Side Effects
As with any type of procedure, there are some common side effects with the Botox treatment. Three percent of the patients who undergo Botox experience eyelid drooping in the frown lines and one percent experience eye swelling in the crow's feet. Other possible side effects include:
- dry mouth
- discomfort or pain at the injection site
- neck pain
- eye problems and decreased eyesight
- double vision and blurred vision

- allergic reactions
These are not all of the possible side effects. For a more complete list, check out the medication guide provided by Botox. Understanding the side effects is a must before entering this treatment.
