After Juvederm Treatment

Juvederm procedures are very common anti-aging for clients on Long Island. But like most injection-related treatments, there are a few things to keep in mind once the procedure is complete. The duration and/or intensity of the side effects depend on the treatment itself and how aggressive it was done, as well as your own healthy traits. Some people react differently than others.

What to Expect

First thing to remember is that is takes a few days for the results to fully settle in. Don't expect immediacy and be patient if something minor is the issue. And avoid squeezing or massaging the treated areas for at least several hours, as touching it could possibly change the results. You need to wait for the treatment to fully evolve with your skin. Occasionally, some patients have acne flares, which can last a few days.

Avoid Alcohol

Avoiding alcohol at least for the first 24 hours after the procedure is highly recommended. Alcohol bloats the skin and can cause underlying problems if consumed. Also, exercising is not recommended fr the first 2/3 days after the treatment. Keeping your heart rate down will greatly benefit the healing of the skin after the treatment, as your body is not focusing on the physical activity you are doing. Relax.

Stay Out of Direct Sunlight

And until the swelling and redness subsides, avoid the sun or excessive heat. This is simply done by putting on sun screen and/or wearing a hat. Proper sunscreen application is always a good idea, no matter the situation. It will keep your skin looking healthy and fresh. If you do have swelling, apply a cold compress on the area for a few minutes every hour. However, do not take aspirin, Aleve, Advil or any other over-the-counter medication, unless that medication is Tylenol, which is always a safe choice.
